Sydney to mark three years since October 7 at dawn

Sydney’s Jewish community will gather at dawn on Wednesday, October 7 for the third annual commemoration of the October 7 attacks.

The event will begin at 6.29am, the moment the attacks on Israel began three years ago, with a shofar sounded at dawn as those gathered remember the victims.

StandWithUs Australia executive director Michael Gencher said the anniversary remained deeply significant for Jewish communities worldwide.

“Three years on, the events of October 7 remain deeply personal for so many of us. We remember the innocent lives taken, the families shattered and the survivors who continue to carry the trauma of that day,” Gencher said.

“Gathering at 6.29am is a powerful act of remembrance. As the shofar sounds, we stand together to honour those we lost, support those still living with the consequences and ensure that their stories are never forgotten.
