POLITICIANS are often accused of being cold and heartless, so the Israeli President’s recent robot encounter should have reminded him of some of the people he has met in the Knesset.
Shimon Peres was introduced to tiny tinpot Hubo during an official visit to South Korea last week.
The robot, which showcases the country’s advances in artificial intelligence, welcomed the Premier to the DAEDEOK research and development park, a facility for 7000 doctors and 8000 engineers.
Like Israel, South Korea is also celebrating its 62nd birthday this year.
Peres said: “The warmth with which the Korean Government and its citizens have welcomed us warms my heart especially in these days. I come with ministers and 60 leading business people to widen and deepen the strategic, political and economic cooperation between our two countries.”
He went on to suggest the establishment of a shared virtual research centre in the space, biotechnology, neuroscience, alternative energy, agriculture and water industries, a proposal that was well received by his hosts.
