EMANUEL School sent out a strong message by taking part in the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, which is held annually on the third Friday of March.

The initiative aims to bring school communities together in an attempt to find real ways to address and eradicate bullying and violence.

There’s a different theme every year and this year’s was “Kindness Culture”, which encourages inclusion and respect and also promotes a sense of community and belonging.

The focus this year is also on cyberbullying, with students encouraged to: block it, report it and support each other.

According to recent research, students between the ages of 10 and 15 are most likely to be involved in online bullying, while approximately one in four year 4 to year 9 students reported being bullied every few weeks, sometimes more often.

The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence is an initiative started by the Australian government to highlight Australian schools and their efforts to counter bullying and violence.
