WITH international travel having resumed, JNF Australia will take two busloads of educators from schools across NSW to Israel for a 10-day immersive tour in January.

From January 4-13, 2022, the delegation will travel across the country exploring historical, cultural and religious sites, learning from Israeli experts in their fields, all while getting a first-hand look at the work that JNF does through the projects it supports.

“Educating about Israel is a core value of JNF Australia,” said JNF NSW executive director Justine Williams.

“Teachers of all subjects and senior staff members from public, independent and Jewish day schools will be treated to an experience of a lifetime.”

The study tour has been designed to enrich the resources and skills of the educators and to spark their students’ interest in Israel’s history and environment, and in Zionism. Participants are expected to utilise their experiences when designing new programs for their students.

JNF education shaliach Yigal Nisell said, “The tour is not only about the teachers who attend the trip, but more importantly it is about the 20,000 students they represent – those they will teach now and in the future.”

JNF has taken more than 200 educators to Israel on three previous trips. Reflecting on the value she gained on the trip, 2017 participant Gita Smith said, “Being given this unique experience to explore the Jewish heritage and culture gave me a new understanding of the meaning of Zionism and mishpachah.

“This really allowed me to understand the students in my classroom so much better.”

Applications for the tours close on November 14. Register your interest: jnf.org.au/educators-tour-2022.
