Jewish students reached new heights when competing in the 2022 NSW All Schools Athletics Championships from September 24-27 at Sydney Olympic Park.

Junior girls’ javelin Maccabiah Games gold medal winner Tali Baltineshter just keeps improving, through incorporating several positive changes to her technique, and her training program.

The Moriah College student, who has been breaking records throughout this school athletics season, cemented her position as NSW’s best emerging girls’ javelin thrower, by winning gold in the 16 girls’ NSW All Schools event, with a top throw of 49.68m.

Emanuel School’s Zach Urbach – who won 3 bronze medals for Australia at the Maccabiah Games in the U20 men’s 100m and 200m finals, and the 4×100 relay – headed into the championships in great form, with recent U17 boys’ 100m and 200m CDSSA, AICES, and CIS title wins.

He added a NSW All Schools bronze to his medal collection, achieving a PB time of 22.14 seconds in the U17 boys’ 200m final, and he came 5th in the 100m final, clocking 11.15 seconds.

His sister, Ashley, nailed a PB in her 100m U14 girls’ heat.

Other achievements by Jewish athletes at the championships included Northern Beaches athlete Joel Solomon coming 4th in the 17 boys’ 2000m steeplechase with a time of 6:44.75; Emanuel School’s Eden Levit qualifying for the 17 girls’ 100m and placing 4th by clocking 12.67 seconds; Moriah’s Joseph Rabinowitz coming 4th and 5th in his heats in the 17 boys’ 100 and 200m; and Moriah student Shira Gottlieb placing 7th in the 16 girls’ 3000m.
