Mount Scopus 40 year reunion
Finally after a two-year delay due to the pandemic, the Mount Scopus Class of 1980 were able to gather recently at the Burwood campus to celebrate four decades since they were students. The joy at being back at their old stomping ground was obvious, with the afternoon filled with stories, reminiscing and renewing friendships.

Hemed helps with Purim packs
Wanderers striker Tomer Hemed spent last Sunday afternoon at Central Synagogue assembling Purim packs with volunteers from the shule, and from Sydney’s Shul. The packs will be distributed to children in hospital this Purim.

Righteous gentiles honoured
St Kilda Shule hosted a Righteous Among the Nations ceremony recently honouring two Polish gentiles who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. Family members of Righteous Gentiles Rena (Irena) Skowronska and Wilhelm Spisky spoke at the ceremony, saying they had never mentioned the events during their lifetimes.

Observership program launch
Participants in the 2022 Observership Program – which sees JCA place participants on member organisations’ boards to create and nurture the next generation of leaders – attended its launch at the Art Gallery of New South Wales last week.
