TRAINING got underway at Maccabi Victoria sports clubs, including athletics, cricket and netball last weekend for the first time since the end of lockdown, and there was a real buzz among participants of all ages.

At the athletics club, 28 Maccabi athletes and three coaches attended an afternoon training session at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve.

There were even a few new faces including Isabella Lewis, Toby Flinkier and Jack Davis, plus three regulars who were eager to burn off a bit of energy ahead of the start of their VCE exams.

Another training session was held on Tuesday evening at Caulfield Park.

Athletics Victoria has released its proposed calendar for the summer season, and confirmed the Shield competition will begin on Saturday, November 13.

And members of three Maccabi-AJAX Cricket Club men’s teams hit the cricket nets last Sunday in preparation for the Mercantile Cricket Association season, which begins on November 14.

The netball season is due to resume on November 6.
