JCA and UIA have joined forces to create a new fellowship for young communal philanthropists.

The JCA & UIA 2021 Philanthropy Fellowship, delivered by the Australian Jewish Funders (AJF), envisions a community where young Jewish leaders are partners in shaping a community that is vibrant, inclusive and meaningful.

It seeks to expand philanthropic leadership in the NSW Jewish community by harnessing the ambition, aspiration and passion of emerging philanthropists.

The program will offer participants the opportunity to explore how their actions and influence can be harnessed to become agents of change, developing skills and a deeper understanding about impactful giving to inspire and enact your philanthropic aspirations.

“JCA is excited and proud to be partnering with UIA and AJF on the Philanthropy Fellowship,” said JCA CEO Alain Hasson.

“Tzedakah is a central element and value of Jewish communal life. Therefore, we want to do everything we can to assist the next generation of community philanthropists with their giving journeys and in furthering their understanding of the needs of our Jewish community, both locally and in Israel.”

As part of the program, candidates will engage and develop relationships with leading community

philanthropists, learn through interactive case studies, peer sharing, conversations with experts and skill-building exercises and access new tools, approaches, learnings and collaborations to grow impactful philanthropy.

They will gain an intimate understanding of the role, responsibilities and challenges faced by our Jewish community and Israel, understand and measure the impact and due diligence of giving and participate in a “Night of Giving” to support JCA and UIA programming.

“UIA and JCA, by partnering, are demonstrating a tangible example to our community’s future philanthropic leaders that their giving to local and Israel based causes are two sides of the same coin,” said UIA CEO Yair Miller.

“Through the leadership of the AJF, we are able to ensure that deep and meaningful cohort based discussions are happening at a stage in life where many young philanthropists are cementing their giving habits and strategies.

“As the two corner-stone organisations working on serious philanthropy in our community we are excited to come together in this unprecedented manner to ensure open, transparent and deep thinking and development.”
