ST Kilda Hebrew Congregation has officially confirmed the appointment of a new executive director.

David Marlow is taking the helm with predecessor Rabbi Ronnie Figdor stepping down after 10 years of service.

Marlow, a member of the St Kilda congregation, is a former executive director of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) and more recently the CEO of the East Timor Hearts Fund, Australia’s only medical NGO dedicated to providing life-saving heart surgery for young people from Timor-Leste.

Marlow who will begin his new role on March 15 said he was excited to get started. “My family has an extensive history with the shule and I welcome the opportunity to work with the wonderful team of rabbonim, staff, board and volunteers, to deliver meaningful, enjoyable and innovative experiences for our community. I look forward to meeting them all in shule at simchas, special events and family activities.”

St Kilda Shule president Gerry Bullon said they are delighted to welcome Marlow on board.

“He is a seasoned leader in the non-for-profit sectors of both the Jewish and wider communities and has a deep understanding of the shule’s needs and aspirations,” Bullon noted.

“David has a strategic focus and collaborative style and we look forward to working with him and other stakeholders as we move ahead with our vision for the future.”
