The Chabad of North Queensland Cairns community recently visited their local police station to wish officers a shana tova and present them with traditional honey cakes.
Led by Rabbi Ari Rubin, the group was given a tour of the police facilities, fostering greater understanding and appreciation between the community and law enforcement.
“We’re thrilled to share this special tradition with our friends in the Cairns Police,” said Rabbi Rubin.
“By spreading sweetness and kindness, we hope to build bridges and strengthen our community bonds.”
Barak David Stern, a student at the Hebrew School, reflected on the experience, “It was amazing to see the police officers’ smiles when we gave them the honey cakes.
“It felt great to be part of something that brings people together and shows we care.
“This visit marks a beautiful example of community outreach and interfaith connection, highlighting the importance of building relationships and fostering mutual respect as we start the High Holy Day season,” he added.
