A 42-year-old woman has been charged with offensive language and banned from all netball venues following alleged antisemitic abuse at a junior game in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Saturday.

NSW Police issued the woman with a Court Attendance Notice on Sunday for use of offensive language in or near a public place or school. She is due to appear before Waverley Local Court on June 17.

The AJN understands the woman has also been banned from all netball venues pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police were called to netball courts on Fitzgerald Avenue, Maroubra, just after 10am on Saturday following reports a woman had allegedly made offensive comments towards a group of people during an under-12 game between Maccabi and Saints Netball Club.

According to witnesses, two Maccabi parents overheard a mother from the opposition team say “f**k the Jews, they all should be eradicated”. When they confronted her, she allegedly made comments about “genocide” and accused Jews of “always playing the victim”.
