Women’s health across the life cycle
"Her health, her power", will spotlight women's health across the life cycle
The National Council of Jewish Women of Australia (Victoria) (NCJWA Vic) is inviting the community to its annual Fanny Reading Lecture, a hallmark event honouring the legacy of NCJWA founder Dr Fanny Reading.
This year’s lecture, “Her health, her power”, will spotlight women’s health across the life cycle, from first period to post-menopause, in a dynamic and thought-provoking discussion. The keynote speakers are Professor Leslie Cannold, renowned ethicist, author and advocate for reproductive rights and gender equity; and Dr Fatima Khan, respected GP, menopause specialist and educator.
Together they will explore how systems and culture shape women’s experiences of their bodies, their pain, and their choices. Through their unique lenses, Cannold and Khan will ask: What would it look like to have a health system that truly honours women’s voices, dignity and diverse needs?
“This event is an invitation to rethink the story of women’s health, not as a series of challenges to overcome, but as a journey of growth, empowerment and self-knowledge. When women are informed and supported, they are more able to live well, age well, and advocate for the care they deserve,” NCJWA (Vic) president Anna Serry told The AJN.
NCJWA (Vic) are also set to launch their annual giving day entitled “Her voice – Our future” on November 26, raising vital funds for programs that support Jewish women and girls across every life stage.
