PROVIDING FOOD RELIEF AHEAD OF ROSH HASHANAH

Woolworths partners with OBK

Collection boxes will be available at Woolworths supermarkets in Bondi Junction, Double Bay and St Ives until September 19, where customers can donate dry goods to support the organisation in its efforts to provide meals for thousands of NSW residents.

Woolworths has partnered with local food relief organisation Our Big Kitchen (OBK) in the lead up to Rosh Hashanah, with a number of Woolworths supermarkets in Sydney collecting food items over the next month.

Collection boxes will be available at Woolworths supermarkets in Bondi Junction, Double Bay and St Ives until September 19, where customers can donate dry goods to support the organisation in its efforts to provide meals for thousands of NSW residents.

Kosher specialist at Woolworths Yosi Barukh said: “We wish all of our customers a Happy Rosh Hashanah. It’s a special moment for the Jewish community and we’re excited to be able to offer a number of specials on kosher products for the occasion.

“We would also like to thank our customers for their generous donations, helping Our Big Kitchen in the incredible work they do throughout the year to support those in need.”

OBK was founded in 2005 by Rabbi Dovid Slavin and his wife Laya after their community had gathered to cook for a local family in need.

Rabbi Slavin said: “Food security is not an issue that one person can solve, it’s a team effort, and that’s what makes this partnership special. Rosh Hashanah is also a time for families, and we want to make sure everyone can enjoy this time.”

A kosher program has been set up in six Sydney stores to help customers easily identify products, with a KA logo situated on the price tag of every product that is kosher throughout the store. This program is available at Double Bay, Bondi Junction, St Ives, Eastgardens, Lane Cove and Neutral Bay.
