When Alice Zaslavsky released In Praise of Veg in November last year, The AJN sat down for a one-on-one chat with the talented “cook, writer, vegelante” herself.

Zaslavsky spoke about her childhood, growing up eating her grandfather’s delicious food, and made our tongues water as she described her mother’s borsch.

Now, In Praise of Veg has been recognised on the global stage.

Zaslavsky is widely recognised for her modern, accessible approach to cooking and eating.

Her first book, Alice’s Food A-Z (2015) is the only cookbook ever to be given a Notable Book gong by the Children’s Book Council of Australia.

Her second, In Praise of Veg has been translated into many languages and was awarded the 2020 ABIA for Best Illustrated Non-Fiction.

And now, In Praise of Veg has won a gold medal in the German Gastronomy Awards, one of Europe’s most prestigious awards.

Zaslavksy is also currently the host of an arts and lifestyle ABC Radio show on Sundays between 4-6.30pm AEST, featuring upcoming guests like John Safran.

In Praise of Veg by Alice Zaslavsky is published by Murdoch Books and available at inpraiseofveg.com or good bookstores. RRP $59.99
