Ziggy Enoch – Jabotinsky’s Zionist youth movent BETAR, is turning 100
Maurice Klein speaks with Ziggy Enoch, Federal Director of Education and Leadership (Hadracha) for Betar Australia, the Zionist youth movement founded in 1923 in Riga, Latvia by Ze’ev Jabotinsky. One hundred years on, the movement has come a long way and would like to celebrate its heritage, present, and future with all those who have helped make it happen, inviting all the movement’s many alumni to come celebrate with everyone in November, as well as extending that invitation to the coordination and planning efforts. Ziggy and Betar are also inviting the Jewish community to contribute to the next edition of Haderach , The Betar Australia Iton annual newsletter. The theme for the 2023 Haderach is “Out of Conflict”, wanting perspectives that will help us better understand the nature of conflicts and tensions in the Jewish domestic world, as well as in Israeli security and foreign affairs. What tools there are in the Jewish culture and society to resolve it and those we need to improve. Pieces can draw on current affairs or history, Jewish philosophy and art; whatever you want, and we are especially interested in perspectives that envision models and paths towards shared futures between Jews and the many cultures with whom we share our homeland, Israel.
