Zionist Federation expands representation
The move is designed to strengthen Jewish community representation and deepen engagement across the broader Zionist movement.

The Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA) has announced the addition of five new partner organisations.
The move is designed to strengthen Jewish community representation and deepen engagement across the broader Zionist movement.
The first cohort of ZFA Partners includes JUnited, United with Israel, Northern Rivers Jewish Community, Emunah Australia, and Project A.
This development follows a successful motion passed at the ZFA Biennial Conference last November, establishing a new “Partner” designation that allows these organisations to participate in executive discussions while maintaining the distinct status of existing affiliated organisations.
ZFA President Jeremy Leibler believes the expansion is significant, particularly in light of recent events.
“The ZFA takes its role as representative roof body of the Jewish Community seriously. In the wake of October 7, we have seen an extraordinary outpouring of engagement from individuals and organisations who had not previously been formally involved in our communal structures—but who now feel an urgent need to contribute, participate, and stand together as part of a united Jewish community,” he said.
Moran Dvir, co-founder of Project A, welcomed the new partnership.
“Project A is pleased to formalise its existing working relationship with ZFA through becoming an official Partner,” she said.
“We’re delighted that in a post October 7 world, grassroots organisations are being recognised by our roof bodies. This means we can more effectively harness the momentum and engagement of our community, who take part in daily activations and advocacy that’s in line with the goals of our communal leadership.”
The new partners represent diverse initiatives within the community, ranging from Project A’s 400-strong volunteer advocacy network to the Northern Rivers Jewish Community’s representation of 3,000 members across their region.
The partnership also includes established organisations like Emunah Australia, which supports vital social welfare projects in Israel.
ZFA CEO Alon Cassuto said they are to evolving with the Jewish community’s needs.
“As the ZFA approaches its centenary, we have a responsibility to ensure that our structures reflect the vibrant and diverse community we represent. By expanding the ZFA tent and embracing new and emerging voices, we are strengthening representation and deepening engagement across the community,” he said.
