Senior communal leaders met with the new Victorian Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Colin Brooks, last week.

At the meeting were Zionism Victoria president Yossi Goldfarb, Jewish Community Council of Victoria president Daniel Aghion and Community Security Group Victoria CEO Justin Kagan.

Joining them were Zionism Victoria executive director Zeddy Lawrence, JCCV CEO Judy Fetter and JCCV COO Naomi Levin.

As well as congratulating the minister on his recent appointment, the discussion focused on a number of issues of importance to the community.

“He was really interested in the issues we face as a community and we’re looking forward to working with him and the government on a number of initiatives during this parliamentary term,” Goldfarb told The AJN.

Aghion said, “Minister Brooks showed a real willingness to understand the impact of antisemitism on our Jewish community. We spoke with Minister Brooks about the need to combat this rising problem using evidence-based initiatives.

“The JCCV is proud to be working with Zionism Victoria, CSG and Minister Brooks to address antisemitism in Victoria.”
