A successful night for Jewish matchmaking
Moshel created a warm, house-party like atmosphere with mood lighting and jazz music.
Kehilat Nitzan, Melbourne’s only Conservative (Masorti) synagogue, recently held its first speed dating event bringing together 50 Jewish singles from across the community aged between 28 and 45.
The event was hosted by professional matchmaker and jazz musician Rachel Moshel, who is passionate about helping single people find their ideal partner. Moshel created a warm, house-party like atmosphere with mood lighting and jazz music.
Participants had the opportunity to meet 25 potential matches throughout the night. Each conversation lasted three minutes, after which attendees decided whether to include that person on their match card. According to Moshel, some couple matches made on the night have already been on their first date and some are even planning a second.
“It is a true mitzvah to bring young Jewish people together,” said Sue Zyngier, past president of Kehilat Nitzan and one of the event organisers. “It strengthens the bonds within our community and may even lead to the creation of whole new Jewish families. New love, strengthening bonds and Jewish continuity … now that’s something to smile about!”
