Athletes from 32 nations, including Australia, put on a thrilling display of skill and talent at the 2022 Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships in Portugal from June 16-18.

Sydney’s Deborah  Greenbaum, 25, competed in three events, helping the Aussies come an impressive 11th in aerobic dance, 16th in the group competition, and 17th in trio.

Thanking her coach, her club PLC Gymnastics, her mum and Gymnastics Australia judge coordinator Pearl Rozenberg, and all her family for their support, Greenbaum told The AJN that it had been devastating for the team not being able to go to last year’s worlds – the first held since 2019,

“So I just felt release, that finally we could go, meet, and compete with athletes from across the world again in the sport we love,” she said.

“When, on top of studying and full-time work, you spend 35 hours a week training for one thing, it is both an honour and a delight to be able to do it.”
