You can’t miss Bialik College’s new Alan Finkel Launch Lab smack in the middle of the primary, middle and senior schools’ campus.

Dr Alan Finkel and his family’s generosity towards the funding of the new state-of-the-art science and innovation building and their ongoing connection to the Bialik community led to its designation.

“I deeply share Bialik’s ambition to provide the best possible science education to students,” Finkel said.

“As in most endeavours in life, a combination of factors is required for success. Great teachers and curriculum are essential … but so is the physical environment where the students work. I am honoured to be associated with the new Launch Lab at Bialik, which will inspire teachers and students equally.”

Bialik principal Jeremy Stowe-Lindner said, “Partnering with Alan Finkel in the development of science and technology is a privilege and an opportunity for the Bialik family.

“At Bialik, our students learn from the best because we engage with the best. This generous donation will not only enable us to provide our students with cutting-edge resources and technologies but also ignite their curiosity and passion for scientific discovery.”

The Launch Lab arose from a partnership with the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Its design transforms corridors into collaborative hubs and walls into canvases for documentation, creating an environment in which students are encouraged to challenge, question, experiment and explore.

The space encourages students to venture beyond their comfort zones and embrace the realm of scientific discovery.

It stands as a testament to the collective commitment of individuals who believe in the power of education to shape a brighter future.

Emily Donaldson, head of science said, “We are so lucky to be engaging with a beacon of the science community who demonstrates the value and joy of science.”
