NSW Jewish Board of Deputies (JBD) president David Ossip attended an Iftar dinner last week hosted by the Catholic Archbishop of Sydney Anthony Fisher at his official residence. Ossip was joined at the Iftar, at which Muslims break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan, by Grand Mufti of Australia Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohammed, and other faith and community leaders.

“The dinner was a wonderful opportunity for our state’s faith leaders to come together and strengthen relationships in an informal and relaxed setting,” Ossip told The AJN.

“On behalf of the NSW Jewish community, we thank the Archbishop for hosting the event and wish all our friends and colleagues in the Muslim community a Ramadan Mubarak.”

Meanwhile, JBD CEO Darren Bark was in attendance at the Premier’s Multicultural Iftar dinner on Monday night.

“NSW is one of the most successful multicultural societies in the world and I was thrilled to celebrate with our Muslim and interfaith friends,” Bark said.
