'Join in the fun' Rosh Hashanah card/poetry competition

Calling artists and poets

'We look forward to receiving all the entries and seeing how creative they all are each year.'

Rosh Hashanah is fast approaching, and with it comes the return of The AJN’s annual Rosh Hashanah card and poetry competitions.

This year, all ages are invited to join in the fun and create a design or verse that expresses their joy at the impending chag.

“We look forward to receiving all the entries and seeing how creative they all are each year,” AJN editor-in-chief Gareth Narunsky said.

“This competition is one of our favourite initiatives.”

Following the success of adding the poetry component last year, Narunsky said the team at The AJN is excited to see this year’s entries.

Aspiring writers are encouraged to pen a heartfelt poem about Rosh Hashanah, with a maximum of 12 lines. The winning poem will be part of The AJN’s greeting, shared with VIPs near and far.

“We realise that there are some in our wonderful community who are more artistic with words than visually,” Narunsky said.

“We’re excited to give everyone a chance to be creative and join in the fun.”

Last year’s card competition winner Aviva Sokolov from Leibler Yavneh College.

The winner will receive a prize and their design will feature on greetings sent to VIPs locally and overseas, including the Prime Minister of Australia and the President of Israel.

Last year’s card competition winner was Aviva Sokolov from Leibler Yavneh College in Melbourne, while the poetry prize was won by Noa Gomberg from [name of school withheld by request].
