SECURITY INCIDENT

Carload of people in Melbourne ‘looking for Jews’

Victoria Police have located the people involved, while CSG Victoria say they were notified of the incident almost immediately.

An incident in which a carload of people in Melbourne were allegedly “looking for Jews” has resulted in police locating and interviewing those responsible.

A Melbourne man who prefers not to be identified said he was at the corner of Toorak and Williams Roads in South Yarra on Tuesday afternoon said people in the car asked him if he knew where any Jews were.

When asked what they would do if they found any Jews, they responded, “They’ll know what we’re going to do once we’re done with them.”

Another passenger in the car then said, “We’re hunting for Jews.”

The eyewitness said he managed to make a note of the make and model of the car as well as the registration plates and immediately reported the incident to the police and the Community Security Group.

He says Victoria Police have told him they located the people involved and spoke to them, and they confirmed the incident happened but claimed they were “just being dickheads and mucking around”.

The eyewitness said he has been told that those involved are now on the Terrorism Australia watch list. CSG Victoria say they were notified of the incident almost immediately after it took place and worked with Victoria Police to ensure that there was no immediate threat to the community. They are asking the community to remain calm.

CSG Victoria CEO Justin Kagan said, “Please listen first and foremost to information and advice from reputable sources. Any official advice, warnings or information from CSG Victoria will be disseminated to community through the JEAP app first, so please download, register and ensure notifications are enabled.”

Meanwhile in Sydney on Wednesday morning, a worker on a construction site in Bellevue Hill made death threats against three Jewish teenagers who were displaying an Israeli flag on their car.

“If I f**king see you with that flag, I’ll f**king kill youse all [sic],” the man said.
