Ronit Fraid takes the helm of JNF

After less than a year in the role, JNF has announced the retirement of its national president Marcus Rose 'for personal reasons' and appointed Ronit Fraid as his successor.

IN an unexpected development at JNF Australia, the organisation has appointed former JNF Victoria president Ronit Fraid as its national president, replacing Marcus Rose, who was in the role for only 10 months and has resigned “for personal reasons”.

Fraid, a retired clinical psychologist, who chairs the board of property development group Moniton and involves herself in her family’s philanthropic initiatives, has served as JNF Victoria president since 2018, its vice-president since 2016, and is a long-time supporter of Israeli projects.

She stated, “It is a great privilege and honour to work for a legendary organisation such as JNF Australia, which continues to be instrumental in building the land of Israel.

“I am both humbled and proud to count myself as one of a dedicated, and passionate team of Zionists who give so generously of their time and energy, working tirelessly to support our magnificent life-affirming environmental and benevolent projects.

“At this time of great uncertainty and human suffering in our world, many challenges lie in our immediate future,” she told The AJN

“We are sensitive and mindful that we are navigating through difficult times and we are ever respectful of the changed circumstances many of our supporters face.

“At the same time, we look forward with hope and pray for safe passage through these uncharted waters.

“We have faith in our positive vision of the future and will continue in our sacred mission on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people.”

Meanwhile, Steven Salamon, previously JNF Victoria’s vice-president and treasurer, has been appointed to replace Fraid as Victorian president. Salamon, a commercial lawyer and investment adviser, has worked with Macquarie Bank as a divisional director and is presently a senior consultant with Shaw and Partners.

“JNF Australia wishes Ronit and Steven many years of active partnership, in good health, together with our staff, volunteers and donors, as we all navigate the current global challenges together, while maintaining the vital link between our community and Israel,” the JNF board said in a statement.
