LAST week marked the end of an era for outgoing Maccabi NSW president Max Futeran, who handed over the baton to stalwart Danny Hochberg at the AGM.

Futeran lead the organisation for two years and implemented several structural changes to ensure the stability of Maccabi clubs, as well as overseeing the establishment of a new constitution.

“Max has been a tremendous president, having instigated many changes over the past couple of years,” Maccabi NSW CEO Mick Vasin told The AJN.

“Especially in terms of overhauling the constitution and putting in several systems that will be with us for many years; and apart from being a fantastic president, he was also a fine treasurer in the three years before that.”

Hochberg will step up from his previous role as vice-president and will enter his fifth year on the Maccabi NSW board.

“I’ve been around a long time and Maccabi is very important part of my life; so I hope I can contribute to making it a better place,” Hochberg said.

“I want to particularly develop our youth to take on leadership roles, as well as develop strong relationships with the clubs and provide them with a consultative service.”

Kevin Fisher and Paul Lawrence have stepped down from the committee, which welcomes Danny Skrabal and Joel Liebowitz, as well as incumbents Lauren Ehrlich, Justin Shelton, Ruth Nissim and Marlon Aronowitz.

Stephen Nemes will vacate his position as honorary solicitor, with Jacquie Seeman set to fill the role, while Steven Brisson – who has assisted in the establishment of the newly formed Youth Committee – has become a non-executive member of the board.
