Children’s hospital says thanks

A special certificate of appreciation given to Israeli soccer player Tomer Hemed and Rabbi Chaim Levy of Sydney's Shul

A SPECIAL certificate of appreciation was given to Israeli soccer player Tomer Hemed and Rabbi Chaim Levy of Sydney’s Shul for their project that saw thousands of gifts distributed to children in Australian hospitals last Chanukah.

The certificate was presented to the pair by Sydney’s Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

Hemed, who plays for the Western Sydney Wanderers, personally delivered some of the gifts and met sick children in hospital to give them a message of hope and strength and assure them that they are not alone.

The project will receive significant expansion in the run-up to Purim, with dozens of Sydney’s Shul volunteers “taking over” all departments and units in the hospitals, Rabbi Levy said, ensuring that each child receives mishloach manot, gifts and hamantaschen.
