Chitayat inspires Jewish audiences across Australia

Creator of the “I’m That Jew” movement Eitan Chitayat has inspired Jewish audiences across Australia to speak up and be proud of their identity.

With his visit coming at a particularly challenging time for Australian Jewry, Chitayat has brought positivity to the many events he has spoken at, leaving audiences feeling hopeful and motivated.

“We’ve lost the narrative battle, not the war,” Eitan said at a packed UIA event in Melbourne hosted by Zara Cooper, also known as Clammy Fraud.

“And now that we are awake and aware, we are the smartest, most resourceful, most creative, most impactful people on the planet. If we have our resolve and conviction, we can move mountains. But we need to remember that the cavalry isn’t coming and no one else is going to do it for us.”

At a Sydney UIA event moderated by The AJN‘s Carly Adno, Chitayat walked around the room and engaged with the many attendees about the importance of each individual person acting as a “brand ambassador” for the Jewish community.

He has spoken at AUJS and Zionist Federation of Australia events, as well as addressed high school students at Moriah College in Sydney and Perth’s Carmel School.

At an inspiring evening last week, 500 parents joined together from Melbourne’s Jewish community. The event was coordinated by the Parents’ Associations of Melbourne’s Jewish schools: Bialik College, Leibler Yavneh College, Mount Scopus Memorial College, The King David School and Yeshivah–Beth Rivkah Colleges, and supported by the Lewis Family Foundation.

In conversation with moderator Ashleigh Pyke, Chitayat reminded the audience, “Every Jew has to be 1000 Jews right now. Speak up. Do. There is strength in numbers. Turn that hope – or hopelessness – into action. I promise you, it will make a difference.”

Chitayat was brought to Australia by the Lewis Family Foundation after Phil Lewis met him on the beach in Tel Aviv in March this year and was captivated by his message.
