B’nai B’rith is holding an event in support of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, calling for a First Nations Voice to Parliament, on May 29 at 7.30pm.

The event will look at the impact of the recent election and invite the community to the conversation.

Chair of the B’nai B’rith Reconciliation Project, Jack Aghion said, “Our aim through events like this is to develop a shared understanding among all Victorians of the impact of colonisation, as well as the diversity, strength and resilience of First Peoples’ cultures.”

Victoria is leading the way in this work, with the establishment of the Yoo-rrook Justice Commission, the first formal truth-telling process into injustices experienced by First Peoples in Victoria.

Aghion implored “the Jewish community to ensure we are keen learners of this ‘truth telling'”.

B’nai B’rith Victoria president Peter Schattner added, “Each of us is on our own path in understanding the history of this country and its First Peoples. This event is for all who are interested in continuing their own education in this area.”

B’nai B’rith “Lotjpadahn B’yahad” – Speaking Together will take place on Sunday, May 29 at 7.30pm at the

Ark Centre. Bookings:trybooking.com/BYNXK
