Emmy Monash Aged Care CEO Tanya Abramzon has confirmed there are multiple cases of COVID at the facility.

Abramzon said positive cases have been confined to rooms, but other residents have been allowed to move about normally. Symptoms have been kept to a minimum as all Emmy Monash residents have been triple vaccinated.

Abramzon said an anonymous claim that a female resident had walked around for two days with COVID was “incorrect”.

“Emmy Monash always has the welfare of our residents as our top priority,” she said, adding the cases were representative of the rise in cases currently in the community.

“Due to privacy reasons, we will not comment on any individual case … Only positive cases are required to isolate in their rooms. Those who have COVID are displaying mild symptoms or are asymptomatic.”

She added that throughout the pandemic, Emmy Monash “has strictly followed all guidelines from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Public Health Unit. We are very thankful to the entire Emmy team for their ongoing hard work and dedication”.
