CHANUKAH came to NSW Parliament House for the first time on December 1.

Hosted by the Yeshiva Centre with the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, the pre-Chanukah reception was attended by more than 70 members of the NSW Parliament.

During proceedings, the Yeshiva Centre’s Rabbi Pinchus Feldman presented parliament with a silver menorah and spoke about the history of the festival.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Richard Torbay accepted the gift, saying it would be permanently on display.

“It will symbolise the values and morals which our society is blessed with,” he said.
