Effi Yaacobi – From Israel to Melbourne to Israel: Effi’s journey

Maurice Klein speaks with Effi Yaacobi, our L’Chaim – To Life radio tour guide who was born in Israel, grew up in Melbourne and returned to live in Israel making Aliyah in 1973, eight months before the Yom Kippur War. Effi tells us about growing up Jewish in Melbourne and what influenced him to make Aliyah as a returning Israeli. From there it was eight months on a Moshav, then a Golani in the IDF, Kibbutz Mevo Chama working the land and marriage. Three years back in Australia on Shilchut for the Jewish Agency, 20 years as the external affairs director at the Wingate Institute, Israel’s acclaimed sports training facility, and for the past seven and a half years, sharing his knowledge and love for Israel as a passionate tour guide.
