Four named as JET fellows for 2026
JCA head of planning Shari Lowe said investing in future educators was an investment in the community.
Four emerging Jewish educators have been named as the 2026 fellows of JCA’s Jewish Educators of Tomorrow (JET) program.
They are Debs Shatari of Moriah College, Doron Lewin of Masada College, Talia Carr of Mount Sinai College and Yula Geredov of Kesser Torah College.
The JET program provides emerging educators with professional development, mentoring and practical experience aimed at broadening their experience and developing them as leaders.
It is funded by the JCA Esther and Zorach Balkind Fund, an endowment established through a bequest from their daughter, Joy Balkind, in memory of her parents.

“Immersing our future educators in a Jewish learning environment is an investment in the future of our community, they are our future leaders.
“All our educators have the opportunity to shape how the next generation understands its Jewish identity and its connection to community, no matter what subject they teach.”
JCA said educators did more than impart knowledge, helping young people understand where they come from, explore what it means to live a Jewish life, and build a sense of belonging.
JET is run in collaboration with the NSW Jewish day schools, with support from the Balkind family and from NSW Jewish Board of Deputies education committee chair Ben Ezzes.
