The Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance (JOFA) Australia recently held a sold-out event, hosting feminist author and activist Sally Berkovic.

The event was so popular, a new venue was found from the original location to accommodate the long list of people who wanted to come and hear Berkovic speak.

The event, hosted at a private home in Caulfield, focused on Berkovic’s experiences with death and grief, reflecting on her life experiences as well as her role working at London’s Chevra Kadisha.

“Sally Berkovic really knows how to draw a crowd and it’s no surprise. She was one of the first Orthodox feminists in the 1980s and 1990s, that has real skill in delivering thoughtful and clever insights,” said JOFA Australia president Nomi Kaltmann.

“The room was packed, and Sally’s reflections … resonated deeply.”

Kaltmann said, “JOFA Australia was privileged to host Sally and learn from her insights,” adding that they will continue “to offer innovative and interesting programming that adds to the community discourse”.
