KEHILLAT Kadimah will remain at the site of the old South Head Synagogue for the foreseeable future after it announced that the entity South Head & District Synagogue (Sydney) has been taken out of liquidation.

The news was announced in an email to Kehillat Kadimah congregants   from the directors of both organisations.

“This is another critical milestone in the rejuvenation of our strong, growing and vibrant community,” the email said.

“It provides absolute certainty that 662-666 Old South Head Road is our community’s home. This is the foundation in our aspiration to be a comprehensive multi-generational, Orthodox community based in what we envisage will become a busy communal centre.”

South Head’s status as a solvent company has been achieved through a refinancing of debts, donations and other funds raised from members of Kehillat Kadimah.

“This could not have been achieved without the overwhelming support from across our community,” the email said.

“We acknowledge the generosity of those who have contributed financially, as well as dedicated their time to achieve this successful outcome.”

South Head went into liquidation in July 2017, with Kehillat Kadimah forming a month later.
