Games raise spirits in Sydney

BEING back on court together for intra-club matches meant so much to Maccabi NSW Netball Club players, who took part in a one-off round-robin day at the Waverley Park courts on October 31.

Held across three 90-minute sessions for juniors aged between 8 and 14 – plus a coaching session for the “Net Set Go” program participants – it was the first time the players had been able to enjoy netball matches together since mid-June.

Back then, the 2021 Randwick Netball Association season finished only halfway through, due to the Sydney lockdown.

Maccabi coaches, umpires, committee members and parents ensured the round-robin day ran smoothly.

Players were required to pre-register to ensure numbers were capped for each session and court.

Club co-president Vanessa Abrahams said, “With the much-anticipated restart of community sport, we wanted to get our players back on the court for exercise and social interaction, out in the fresh air, and off their screens.

“We welcomed old and new players, with a fun-filled morning of warm-ups, drills and netball games.

“We can now look forward to a fulfilling 2022 netball season for Maccabi.”
