Gilboa to headline Unbreakable concert
Former Israeli hostage Daniella Gilboa headlines SHIR’s Unbreakable concerts in Melbourne and Sydney.
The SHIR Australian Jewish Music Festival presents Unbreakable in Melbourne and Sydney in late October – an extraordinary concert headlined by former Israeli hostage, 22-year-old singer Daniella Gilboa.
She will perform her debut single Where Everything Ends and lead an exceptional line-up of performers for an evening in each city celebrating Jewish music, courage, resilience and hope.
“Music can connect people from all over the world,” Gilboa said.
Joining her is Australia’s best loved pianist Simon Tedeschi, singer Sidra Nissen, international award-winning cellist Rebecca Herman, Carols by Candlelight vocalist Jemma Cher, soul powerhouse Sarit Michael, brothers Ezry and Mizzi Israel, Fiddler On The Roof star violinist and SHIR director Ben Adler, and the critically acclaimed Chutney ensemble.
A key feature of Unbreakable will be celebrating the beauty of diverse musical traditions, through collaborations with a host of guest artists.
These include Australian-Iranian Muslim singer and multi-instrumentalist Mustafa Karame, Australian-Indian vocalist Rucha Lange, Indian tabla player Maharshi Raval and Samoan Christian singer Micah Mika Papalii-Talanai.
“Whenever I share the stage with artists from different nations, cultures and religions, I feel truly alive,” Karame said.
“I believe that, beneath our differences, we are all part of one human family, and when we come together through music, something powerful and spectacular can happen.”
Lange said, “It feels truly special to be performing alongside such fine Jewish musicians, who are so deeply rooted to the essence of brilliant music.
“Music truly brings people together, and it feels like a celebration when artists from different cultures and genres come together in unison.
“I hope the music I present gives audiences a message of peace, hope and love.
Unbreakable is in Melbourne on Thursday, October 22 and Sydney on Sunday, October 25. For bookings, visit shir.com.au
