Glick’s set for Westfield Bondi

CHALLAH-LUJAH: Glick’s is coming to Westfield Bondi Junction.

The AJN can reveal the iconic kosher bakery is set to open a Glick’s Express in the lobby of Westfield Tower 1, replacing the Fibonacci Kosher Cafe.

Glick’s NSW general manager Baruch Kluwgant told The AJN the bakery is very excited about the new location, and is due to open “in the next couple of weeks”.

“We have been looking to open in Westfield for a while. We have a store in a Melbourne Westfield and [that] has been a great success. This opportunity came up and I thought, ‘this is a great way to get our foot in the door’,” Kluwgant said.

“We are calling it Glick’s Express and that’s what we want: good food and good coffee served quickly. We will offer a range of fresh sushi, grilled wraps, filled bagels, hot pastries, milkshakes, fresh juices and more. We will also offer a catering service for those in the Bondi Junction area.”

Kluwgant, grandson of Glick’s founder Mendel Glick, said there is a need for kosher diners to have somewhere to eat while shopping in Westfield, and “there is also a lot of people who work in the area and would love to be able to go out and grab a quick breakfast or lunch”.

“There are also a lot of elderly people who live in the area who may find it difficult to go too far out to look for kosher food,” he added.

Last Friday Glick’s announced on Facebook that it was opening in Westfield, attracting hundreds of “likes” and comments including “best news ever” and “thank God!”

“[This is] awesome news for the community,” one man wrote. “I am very excited,” said one woman.

“When it was announced that we were moving into Westfield Bondi Junction my phone did not stop ringing,” Kluwgant said. “There is clearly a huge demand for good kosher food to be available in Westfield and we are so happy we are in a position to offer this to the community.”
