'Jewish life and learning' 40 per cent off tuition fees at Masada

HAF launches landmark Jewish bursary

Launching in term 1 in 2026, the HAF Jewish Bursary will provide 40 per cent off tuition fees for every Jewish child at Masada College.

The HAF bursary will reduce tuition fees for Jewish students at Masada College.

In a bold move that promises to reshape the future of Jewish education in Sydney, and on behalf of the Hyman Abramovich Foundation (HAF), Masada College this week launched the HAF Jewish Bursary, which aims to make a premium Jewish education significantly more accessible to families.

HAF was established more than three decades ago, with the exclusive purpose of supporting Jewish education at Masada College, so that it remains a cornerstone of the North Shore Jewish community, and continues to welcome more Jewish families to experience a Masada College education.

The bursary, to be managed by Masada College, is the result of a landmark, once-in-a-generation partnership between Masada College, HAF and Montefiore.

Following last year’s announcement of the sale of the Masada oval owned by HAF, to Montefiore – which enabled HAF to establish the Jewish bursary program – today marks the next milestone in bringing that vision to life.

Launching in term 1 in 2026, the HAF Jewish Bursary will provide 40 per cent off tuition fees for every Jewish child at Masada College.

It is available to all existing Masada students, to new Jewish students across years K-12, and it is not means-tested.

“HAF is delighted to offer this Jewish bursary as a strategic investment in the future of Sydney’s North Shore Jewish community,” HAF chair Steven Gross said.

“By enabling more Jewish families to join Masada College, we are not only enriching the school’s cultural identity and expanding opportunities for a quality education, we’re also helping to ensure the continuity of Jewish life and learning for generations to come.”

Co-presidents of Masada College, Howard Sher and Danny Cohen, said the college is “proud to offer this extraordinary initiative from the HAF, as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening and supporting our community”.

“The HAF Jewish Bursary directly addresses affordability challenges, and ensures that more Jewish children have access to an outstanding Jewish education.”

Masada College principal Raquel Charet added, “The generosity of the HAF will echo for decades, touching thousands of lives, and we are profoundly grateful for their vision and commitment.”
