Child Holocaust survivor Eddy Boas recently screened his Holocaust educational video Reflections of Courage at NSW Parliament House, which he said was “extremely well received”.

An audience of about 100, including a number of MPs, watched the 47-minute documentary, which was followed by a Q&A session with Boas conducted by Freya Leach.

Coogee Labor MP Marjorie O’Neill said Holocaust education is “fundamental in ensuring history never repeats itself”.

“In a time where many students are graduating with little to no knowledge of these horrors committed in WWII, I am proud of the NSW Government’s reforms to ensure this education is compulsory across our schools,” said O’Neill.

“Above all, I am incredibility grateful that Eddy has shared his and his family’s remarkable story of resilience and love with all of us.”

Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party Natalie Ward said Reflections of Courage “illuminates Eddy’s story and reminds us that in an age where history risks fading, Holocaust education is not just a lesson in the past, but a call to safeguard humanity’s future – because Never Again is now”.

Reflections of Courage, directed by Janet Shay and produced by Karl Jenner, chronicles the harrowing journey of the Boas family during the Holocaust, as recounted by Eddy, the youngest family member who survived.

Through Eddy’s personal narrative, the film delves into the discrimination, segregation and terror the family faced in Nazi-occupied Holland.

The documentary highlights the profound impact of small yet courageous acts of kindness that played a crucial role in their survival. Reflections of Courage is a testament to resilience, hope and the enduring human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity.
