Howard backs Joint’s humanitarian mission
Former PM John Howard urges unity and compassion amid rising global antisemitism.
Former prime minister John Howard has urged support for humanitarian organisations such as The Joint at a time when global antisemitism is rife.
Speaking at an exclusive lunch hosted by the Joint Australia in Sydney last Wednesday, Howard spoke passionately about his deep connection to Israel and the importance of maintaining robust humanitarian support.
“At times like these when global antisemitism is rife, it is vital to ensure that humanitarian organisations such as the Joint remain robust and strong,” Howard said.
Joint Australia president Eva Fischl introduced Howard, remarking on his friendship and unwavering support for Israel and the Jewish people.
“Mr Howard shone. He spoke effortlessly and passionately about his deep connection to Israel,” the Joint Australia said in a statement.
“He reminded everyone in the room what true leadership and statesmanship looks like.”
Joint Australia NSW director Michael Pollak delivered the vote of thanks to Howard, thanking him for his longstanding friendship with the community.
“Mr Howard’s words inspire us to meet this moment with clarity, purpose and moral conviction,” Pollak said, noting that Howard had reminded those present “of the enduring power of leadership rooted in courage and humanity”.
Joint Australia national director Brett Kaye welcomed attendees and spoke about the life-saving work carried out by the organisation in over 70 countries around the world and in Israel.
Howard is a lifelong friend of Joint Australia board member Peter Strasser.
The lunch was attended by some of NSW’s leading community stalwarts and business leaders.
