Call For Volunteers

In One Voice is back

'I love this festival, seeing people come together to celebrate Jewish culture in a vibrant, fun day...'

After a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic, In One Voice is returning, and this year it is calling out to photographers, artists and volunteers to get involved.

The street festival is an annual celebration of Jewish culture, and with eased COVID restrictions, it can return in its full force and glory.

The festival will take place on Selwyn Street, Elsternwick, on March 20, with more than 65 community groups attending and showcasing their work.

In One Voice is launching a brand new photography exhibition and competition, With One Click. It is a new initiative as part of the overall In One Brush art installation and it is seeking entries of Jewish themed images.

“We thought it would be a great idea to open up the exhibition to include photography. Photography as an art form is quite accessible to most people and this would enable those with a passion for photography to submit their images,” In One Voice communications executive Allan Kaufman said.

Echoing this sentiment, long standing volunteer Aviva Kaufman said, “In One Brush is a great environment for all to showcase their talents and to try to win best in show or sell a piece. Being involved in a community event like this is one of the highlights of the year. Anyone looking to get involved will have a great time.”

She added, “I have been involved as a volunteer at In One Voice for many years now. I have worked on the sausage sizzle stand and In One Brush. I love the camaraderie of the fellow volunteers, I enjoy meeting the artists and the general public and always have a fun day. The artwork displayed is from professionals, hobbyists and students.”

The festival would not be possible without the continual support from volunteers and so this year In One Voice is calling out to new and regular volunteers to help out before the event and on the day.

Jon Moss, who regularly volunteers at In One Voice, told The AJN, “Every year I look forward to getting the call when I’m asked to manage the main stage for In One Voice. I love this festival, seeing people come together to celebrate Jewish culture in a vibrant, fun day. It’s one of the best days in the Jewish calendar and I can’t wait to be back again this year.”
