Internships on offer

THE clock is ticking for nominations in this year’s B’nai B’rith & JNF Jewish Changemaker Awards, with entries set to close on November 16.
In addition to cash prizes and recognition by an esteemed panel of judges, this year’s winners and nominees will also be offered a range of internship opportunities.
“It’s wonderful to see how the B’nai B’rith & JNF Jewish Changemaker Awards bring our communal organisations together in support of our future leaders and Jewish continuity,” JNF national executive assistant, and its driving force behind the project, Etty Ayalon said.
For the first time in the awards’ history, all winners and nominees will be considered for an editorial internship at The AJN‘s offices in Sydney or Melbourne, as well as internships in the leadership, marketing and national sports departments at Maccabi Australia.
Meanwhile, JCA’s Observership Program is offering to waive application fees and interview relevant nominees as possible candidates for positions with participating communal not-for-profit organisations, while the B’nai B’rith Alfred Dreyfus Unit (ADU) is also offering an opportunity for one young person to intern with the organisation on its Stop Racism Now campaign.
“This will give the young person a practical hands-on experience of working at grassroots level on proactive, positive community interaction strategies aiming to enhance Australian society,” ADU president Ernie Friedlander said.
Three new additions join the judging panel this year, with communal identities Ronit Fraid, Tracie Olcha and Jill Green teaming up with existing judges Peter Wertheim and Will Nemesh.
“It is a great pleasure and honour for me, on behalf of JNF Australia, and together with B’nai B’rith Australia, to be a part of this exciting process of acknowledging the positive contributions of young changemakers to our community,” Fraid said.
Stating the awards “celebrate our community’s young people who are taking an active role in shaping the social landscape of Australia, Israel and the future of the Jewish and broader worlds”, Olcha added, “I am really looking forward to meeting and connecting with this incredible network of emerging leaders and activists.”
Green concluded, “It is our role to nurture, encourage, and reward these young people to keep them motivated and for them to inspire others to get involved.”
