Isabelle takes Wollahra’s top job

ISABELLE Shapiro is the new mayor of Woollahra.

Shapiro is believed to be the first Jewish woman to hold the title for Woollahra Council, which includes Double Bay, Rose Bay, Paddington and Vaucluse.

The South African-born mayor is prominent in the Jewish community and has been heavily involved in Meals on Wheels and raising money for breast cancer research and awareness.

Shapiro was elected as mayor on Tuesday night for a year.
