Israel attacked in a ‘Wave of terror’

Israel has been rocked by a 'wave of terror' while Australians slept overnight.

Israelis have lived through a day of terror while we slept.

It started at 10am in Israel (6pm Australian time) when a female terrorist stabbed a Jewish Israeli man in the neck with a knife in the Old City of Jerusalem. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said after seeing CCTV footage that the terrorist closely followed the man and “when she had the opportunity, the footage shows her stabbing him in the neck from behind”. The man, who is in stable condition, was able to shoot the terrorist.

Two hours later a Palestinian terrorist stabbed an IDF soldier, who sustained light wounds, and took his gun in the southern Israeli city of Kiryat Gat. The terrorist fled the scene to a nearby fourth-floor apartment where he allegedly fired shots at security forces. The terrorist was killed by security forces in the kitchen of the apartment.

Soon after a police officer was injured after being attacked and stoned by Palestinians in the Old City. Two minors were arrested. Soon after that incident the bomb squad was called when an suspicious object was found on a road between Peduei and Bruchin. The object was found to be a bomb and detonated by Israel’s security forces. No injuries were reported.

Late in the afternoon a 30-year-old terrorist from Hebron stabbed a 25-year-old Israeli man in Petah Tikva at the entrance of a shopping mall. The Israeli man was treated for stab wounds to the upper half of his body and remains stable.

In the early evening another 30-year-old Palestinian terrorist in his car tried to break through a security checkpoint near Ma’aleh Adumim in an attempt to run over security forces, the IDF said. Soldiers at the scene fired shots at the vehicle and apprehended the driver. Two Israelis were injured in the incident

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said “civilians are at the forefront of the war against terrorism and must be on maximum alert”. He convened a meeting of the security cabinet in the afternoon and then spoke to the media.

“We are taking strong action against the terrorists, rioters and inciters. We have boosted our forces and are using all necessary means and methods in the fight against this terrorism. We have known worse times than this and we will also overcome this wave of terrorism with determination, responsibility and unity.”
