The Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) has unveiled a new Research and Data Hub, creating a centralised portal that brings together key reports and data about Victoria’s Jewish community in one searchable location.

The publicly accessible platform features research across themes including demographics, education, antisemitism and Jewish community life, designed to support evidence-based advocacy and strategic planning.

JCCV president Philip Zajac said the initiative represented a commitment to strengthening the community’s approach to decision-making and external engagement.

“The Research and Data Hub is part of our commitment to strengthening evidence-based advocacy, strategy and collaboration. By bringing together existing reports in one place, we hope to support informed decision-making within our community and in engagement with government and academia,” Zajac said.

The Hub has been developed as a simple, searchable platform accessible to community organisations, policymakers, researchers and the general public.

Reports are tagged by theme, with direct links to original sources provided.

The collaborative project brings together research from multiple organisations including the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation, Zionist Federation of Australia, Community Security Group and JCCV.

CEO Naomi Levin emphasised the Hub’s role as a growing collective resource for the community.

“We see this as a collective resource that will continue to grow. We invite organisations with publicly available research relevant to Victoria’s Jewish community to contribute and help build this valuable tool further,” Levin said.

The launch comes at a time when Jewish communities are increasingly focused on data-driven approaches to addressing challenges including rising antisemitism and changing demographics.

The Hub provides a foundation for organisations to access existing research without duplicating efforts, potentially streamlining community planning and advocacy work.

By consolidating previously scattered research into a single platform, the JCCV aims to improve coordination between Jewish organisations and enhance the community’s ability to present evidence-based arguments to government and other stakeholders.

The platform’s accessibility to the general public also serves an educational function, allowing non-Jewish researchers, policymakers and interested individuals to better understand Victoria’s Jewish community through authoritative sources.

Community organisations with relevant publicly available research are encouraged to contact JCCV to have their work included in the growing repository.
