Jewish girls show plenty of Heart

SEVERAL Jewish female football players again took part in the Girls with Heart program, which saw footballers from Jewish, Muslim and Christian backgrounds unite for a curtain-raiser to a Melbourne Heart match at AAMI Park on the weekend.

SEVERAL Jewish female football players again took part in the Girls with Heart program, which saw footballers from Jewish, Muslim and Christian backgrounds unite for a curtain-raiser to a Melbourne Heart match at AAMI Park on the weekend.

“As we all know, it’s usually the men that get the spotlight in all sports, not just foot- ball,” Reagan Milstein Foundation director Kevin Milstein told The AJN.

“So it’s about time the girls get the recog- nition, and we’re working towards equality in the game so that all talent gets recognised.

“[It’s] becoming more of a [major] event, because the A-League has Harmony Day, which encourages these sort of events.”

The Jewish players included Amy Silver, Rebecca Rubinstein, Jamie Brown, Mandy Meyerson and Kerryn Jayes.
