DEMOLITION began at JewishCare’s Bondi Junction property this week, as the social welfare organisation hit its $4 million fundraising target.

Once the demolition is complete, JewishCare plans to build a three storey building with a car park underneath on Saber Street.

Appeals chairman Alex Abulafia said he was extremely excited to reach the target on Tuesday afternoon.

“Halfway through the campaign I thought it was going to be very hard but people really understood the need,” Abulafia.

JewishCare president Eva Fischl said she has been overwhelmed by the wonderful response from the community.

“The response started with the hand on cars, which are running all around Sydney, all the way through to donations,” Fischl said.

The money raised will be go towards building costs and also to develop a ‘future fund’ for the organisation.
