Jeremy Jones had his audience enthralled as the Australian Friends of the Hebrew University’s (AUSTFHU) Honours Club first guest speaker for 2023.

The director of international and community affairs of the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) discussed Jewish–Muslim relations in the 21st century. The audience learned many new aspects on this important topic, including that the largest Muslim community in the world is none other than our Indonesian neighbour. Jones said the good news is that plenty is happening behind the scenes through meetings of imams and Jewish leaders, which will have a flow-on effect toward mutual respect and understanding.

AUSTFHU has some exciting speakers for 2023 and, on March 29, will feature the eminent and well-known Professor Peter Gonski on the topic of medications – “Your medications: the good, the bad and the ugly”.

The monthly Honours Club meetings, which take place on the last Wednesday morning of each month (except for public and Jewish holidays), are open to all and include morning tea.
