HUNGARIAN-BORN Australian painter Judy Cassab and her son, sculptor John Seed, have launched their first joint exhibition, The Two of Us, at the Eva Breuer Gallery in Sydney.

At 89, Judy Cassab is one of Australia’s most celebrated portrait painters and has won numerous prizes, including the Archibald Prize. The exhibit includes many of her iconic paintings from 1955 until 2008.

Her son, Seed, a conservationist, is returning to sculpture after a brief hiatus. These days, the pair spends many days working side by side in Seed’s studio.

Among the dignitaries who paid a special visit to the exhibit were Hungarian President Dr Laszlo Solyom and NSW Governor Marie Bashir.

The Two of Us exhibition is at the Eva Breuer Gallery, 83 Moncur Street, Woollahra, until Tuesday, October 13.
