The third event in CBD Chabad Sydney’s new lunchtime conversations series, on September 27, featured keynote speaker Lital Shemesh (pictured), a journalist and lead news anchor for Israel’s Channel 14, which caters to a centre-right audience.

Shemesh – whose uncle and cousin died in a recent terrorist attack in the West Bank – was interviewed by event co-host Dr David Adler, president of the Australian Jewish Association, about how Israel is often covered in the international media, as well as touching on Diaspora–Israel relations.

She stayed on for a Q&A session with the audience, which included guest John Ruddick, a Liberal Democrats Member of the NSW Legislative Council.

Rebbetzin Sara-Tova Yaffe, of CBD Chabad, thanked Shemesh, and presented her with two books, Towards a Meaningful Life and Security on the Land.

She also commented on the positive power of Jewish feminine leadership today.

Then CBD Chabad began October by taking its special mobile succah – installed on a ute’s tray – to four locations in the city centre, plus Rushcutters Bay Park, spreading the joy of Succot.
